Alexandria, ON – The 2026 Dwight Golf Tournament has marked its most successful year yet, raising $30,000 for Special Olympics Ontario and Hôpital Glengarry Memorial Hospital Foundation.
Held on August 28, the sold-out tournament brought together golfers, sponsors, volunteers and community supporters for a memorable day of golf and giving, while continuing to honour the legacy of Dwight Proudfoot.
Now in its sixth year, the tournament has grown into a much-anticipated community tradition, with businesses, golfers and volunteers returning year after year to support two important causes.
Tournament organizer and Presenting Sponsor John Hope of Hope Holdings Inc. reflected on the tremendous response to this year’s event:
“The 2026 Dwight Golf Tournament was our greatest success, since starting the tournament six years ago. The two wonderful charities are again the beneficiaries of our golfers, volunteers and businesses who continue to support this wonderful event. We look forward welcoming you all back in August 2027.”
The $30,000 raised will be shared between Special Olympics Ontario and Hôpital Glengarry Memorial Hospital Foundation, extending the impact of the tournament well beyond the golf course.
For Special Olympics Ontario, the support will help further opportunities for Ontarians with intellectual disabilities to participate in sport and experience the confidence, friendships and sense of belonging that come with it.
For Hôpital Glengarry Memorial Hospital Foundation, the funds will help strengthen rural healthcare by supporting the hospital and the medical equipment its healthcare teams rely on to provide high-quality care close to home.
The tournament’s record-breaking success would not have been possible without the generosity of its sponsors and supporters. Hope Holdings returned as Presenting Sponsor, joined by Platinum Sponsors Proudfoot Financial, CommonWell Mutual Insurance Group and MacEwen Petroleum Inc., along with Gold Sponsors BDO Canada LLP, BMO, Minimax Express, Tim Hortons, Conseil scolaire de district catholique de l’Est ontarien – CSDCEO, Mike Sauvé Construction, Glengarry Windows & Doors, and Glengarry Plumbing & Heating, and many other businesses and organizations whose contributions helped make the day possible.
The tournament was equally powered by the people behind the scenes: organizers, volunteers and golf course staff who gave their time and energy to create a memorable experience for everyone who participated.
At the heart of it all remains the memory of Dwight Proudfoot and the community spirit the tournament carries forward in his name. Six years after the first tournament, that legacy continues to bring people together and inspire generosity for causes that make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
Following a record-setting 2026 event, the Dwight Golf Tournament will return on August 27, 2027.
