Alexandria, ON – Hôpital Glengarry Memorial Hospital Foundation has now raised $2.745 million toward its $3.5 million goal to bring the hospital’s first onsite CT scanner to HGMH, putting the campaign at 78% of its fundraising target.

“Reaching $2.745 million is an important moment for this campaign and a reflection of how strongly our community has responded to the need for CT care closer to home,” said Mark Adam, Chairman of the Hôpital Glengarry Memorial Hospital Foundation Board of Directors.

“We knew from the beginning that bringing HGMH its first CT scanner would be one of the most ambitious fundraising efforts our Foundation has undertaken,” Adam said. “What continues to give us confidence is the response from this community. Individuals, families, businesses and organizations continue to step forward. That support has already brought us to $2.745 million and shows how strongly people believe in strengthening rural healthcare and bringing this important diagnostic service closer to home.”

Recent community support has added nearly $160,000 to the campaign through a range of fundraising efforts and significant gifts.

Yves Poirier raised $24,619.25 through his 1,000-kilometre bike ride, while Minimax Express Transportation Inc. contributed $24,634.31 through a gift of securities.

The Biker Chicks Sara Baxter and Mariette Secchi, and HGMH Foundation Board member Scott DaPrato contributed another $10,250, representing proceeds from Share the Wealth draws held throughout the summer Bike Night at the Atlantic Pub season, together with DaPrato’s matching contribution. HGMH Foundation also recently received an anonymous $100,000 gift of securities.

“What is remarkable is the many different ways people are choosing to be part of this campaign,” Adam said. “We have people taking on personal challenges, community groups fundraising, businesses investing in local healthcare and donors making significant gifts. Every contribution moves us closer to bringing CT care home.”

HGMH’s first onsite CT scanner will strengthen access to diagnostic imaging for patients throughout the hospital’s rural service area and reduce the need for patients to travel to other communities when CT imaging is required.

With 78% of the $3.5 million goal raised and $755,000 remaining, HGMH Foundation is now entering the final stretch of the CT Scanner Campaign and rallying the community around a clear message: Bring It Home.

HGMH Foundation is working to secure the remaining funds by March 2027, bringing HGMH’s first onsite CT scanner home to the community and expanding access to essential diagnostic care closer to where patients live.

“There is still work ahead of us, but reaching $2.745 million shows how far this community has already carried this campaign,” Adam said. “Now, we are asking our community to help us Bring It Home. Every gift, every fundraiser and every business that steps forward brings us closer to the finish line.”

With $755,000 left to raise, HGMH Foundation is calling on individuals, families, businesses and community organizations to help carry the momentum through the final months of the campaign.

“Help us Bring It Home. Together, we can bring HGMH’s first onsite CT scanner home to our community,” Adam concluded.
