Care close to home makes the difference.

Let’s start by revealing that Jessica Duperron is a true homer. Her parents were raised here, she was born here and her career as a Senior Medical Radiation Technologist blossomed here.

“I love this community. I love the small-town atmosphere. I love how everyone helps each other. And the same can be said for the community culture inside the hospital. We all know each other very well. Everyone here believes in a true team approach. And that makes a huge difference in access to healthcare and hospital services. The positive team culture makes it possible to achieve our patient-centered care goals.”

The other big difference when you look behind the scenes of diagnostic imaging is the impact it has on rural community healthcare.

“For a small town and rural community, having the technology we have – especially the new CT Scanner – is so important. Currently, you have to travel almost an hour to find similar services. Not having to travel to get a CT Scan is a huge deal. It reduces patient stress. It reduces wait times here and at other hospitals. It speeds diagnosis and treatment. And all of those positives contribute to better patient recovery. We can diagnose stroke causation right away and treat the right issues. We can manage and diagnose trauma patients who come into our emergency department – almost all of them will need a CT Scan.”

As Jessica says, her team are the eyes of medicine. So what does she see going forward?

“Diagnostic imaging technology, like all hospital technology, doesn’t last forever. The X-ray technology we have now is approaching ten years old. That will need replacing by about 2029. Everything related to imaging is digital now – updates will be continuous. So my message for donors is that we need you to give now and every year. In this small community, where everyone works together, giving to the local hospital and for our new CT Scanner is the best way to give back to everyone.”

That makes what you do next pretty clear. Please give.

Thank you for all you do Jessica.
