Alexandria, ON — A mother’s love has sparked a transformative gift for the Hôpital Glengarry Memorial Hospital (HGMH) Foundation.

Edna Lalonde has donated $100,000 to the Foundation’s CT scanner campaign, ensuring that patients across Stormont, Dundas, and Glengarry and surrounding areas receive timely, life-saving diagnoses close to home.

Edna’s gift comes from a deeply personal place:

“My son Claude and my husband Guy have been patients at HGMH. Before they passed away, they received care at this hospital. I made a promise that this hospital will remember them. This donation is my way of thanking everyone who took care of them and honouring my son’s and my husband’s memory. Their legacy lives on because of this donation, because many people will receive timely diagnosis from the CT scanner at HGMH.”

Her generosity is a testament to the power of love and remembrance: turning personal loss into hope, improved health, and life-saving care for patients who rely on HGMH every day.

Mark Adam, Chair of the HGMH Foundation, emphasizes the broader impact of gifts like Edna’s:

“Edna’s donation is a beautiful way to honour her loved ones while supporting the health of our entire community. May this inspire others to consider legacy gifts to the HGMH Foundation, ensuring that families continue to receive exceptional care for generations to come.”

This $100,000 donation brings HGMH Foundation closer to its goal of funding a state-of-the-art CT scanner that will provide faster and more accurate diagnoses for thousands of patients each year. Beyond the technology, it’s a story of compassion, remembrance, and the enduring power of a mother’s love.
